What is Cultivated Meat


Cultivated is meat produced by in vitro cultivation of animal cells, instead of from slaughtered animals.

Cultivated meat is meat sourced from in vitro cell cultures, instead of slaughtered animals.

Different types of cells (muscle, fat, blood, connective etc.), grown in bioreactors, are ‘fed’ nutrients and growth factors.

Applicable to all animal species.

Proof of concept funded by Sergey Brin (co-founder of Google) in 2013 and cost circa $250k for a single beef patty.
